"I Love Us" Pillow - Paper Press Paint Technique

You can paint a happy little pillow like this for Valentine's Day, or just to celebrate how you feel.  And after you see how easy it was to do, you might just want to try this technique for all kinds of designs, messages, and personalization on fabric.   The technique is called "paper press" and it reminds me of screen printed fabric.  The words "I love us" were written with dimensional paint, and then a sheet of paper was laid over the wet paint and "pressed" gently with fingers, then peeled away to reveal an interesting effect.  The heart...

DIY Valentine's Day Chocolate Wrappers

DIY Valentine's Day Chocolate Wrappers

You simply can't have Valentine's Day without candy, can you?  And they need to be a bit fancy, too!  These graphic candy bar wrappers are great to add some special pizzaz to the day.  All I did was grab scrapbook papers from my stash and started cutting away.  I pulled off the original wrappers to use as a template for the perfect size to cut.  Then all I had to do was cut out some hearts, and strips of paper to spiff them up.  I cut letters and punched holes from paper and started gluing.  I'm pretty happy with how...

String Art Heart

String Art has been around a really long time, but it seems like one of those forgotten retro crafts.  I just love it, and had to try it!  This super simple heart design was an easy way for me to try it out.  Using a plain white canvas for my design seemed like a simple solution for a graphic background.  I wanted it for my bedroom, so I thought a heart was a nice idea.  Plus, it played into my "simple" graphic theme.  Here's how I did it: All you need for you string art is a stretched canvas,...

L-O-V-E Burlap Pillow - DIY

Whether it's Valentine's Day or it's just another day to celebrate LOVE, this pillow will make a sweet statement.   I used burlap fabric to create a nice big fluffy pillow, using Fairfield Poly-Fil inside.   Here's how: 1.  Cut two 24-inch hearts from burlap. 2.  Sew wrong sides together, leaving a 6-inch opening.   3.  Turn right side out, pressing the edges with a steam iron to lay flat. 4.  Cut the word "Love" from a Fairfield Oly-Fun sheet in black. 5.  Glue the word to the front of the pillow with your favorite fabric glue. 6.  Glue trims...
